andy matinog

andy matinog

Raised in Los Angeles, Andy began his exploration of Hatha Yoga when he moved to San Francisco in the early 1990s. In 2001 he was introduced to Shadow Yoga. He was immediately captivated by the depth and uniqueness of the practice and it's founder, Zhander Remete. He has since completed a three year teacher training program and continues to study intensely under Zhander and his partner, Emma Balnaves.

His interest in Hatha Yoga led him in the beginning to study other disciplines. He honors and bows down to those who have been his guide. Ultimately, he finds completeness in Hatha Yoga.

He has been teaching since 2002. In November, 2009 he moved to the Bay Area to teach Shadow Yoga with Zhander's blessings. In 2012 he opened Red Crow Yoga Shala to foster Oakland's Shadow Yoga community.

sage mcclive

sage mcclive

Sage McClive began a passionate relationship with yoga many years ago when she was recovering from a severe lumbar and neck strain as a young person fresh out of college. Yoga was the catalyst for her full recovery from those injuries and is still the first remedy used in her life to maintain a radiant lifestyle. After many years of sampling different styles of yoga and healing modalities, she committed to becoming a teacher of a therapeutic-style yoga as a way to share her knowledge for the vast healing benefits of a yoga practice. She decided to train through the ViniYoga lineage where she could apply her knowledge of holistic healing to her yoga classes. She’s a firm believer that anyone can practice yoga safely and effectively – it’s all a matter of using the adaptations of poses and maintaining a creative mind as a teacher to offer new adaptations for specific situations.

tia ukpe-wallace

Tia has been a devoted student of yoga since 2001. She has found the yogic journey eye-opening and tries to instill the lessons she has learned on the mat as well as through encounters and challenges in her life. Combining her practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa, Yin yoga, and Yoga Tune Up®, she has created a challenging and stimulating way to transform the body.  She continues to explore various ranges of yoga styles as well as different forms of movement to develop a clearer understanding of the workings of the body. Many of her classes explore using anatomy in action and allow for an experiential and kinesthetic awareness. Her love of the body also extends to what is put into the body and how the mind can influence the body. She has a strong affinity towards cooking and nutrition and how they are both interrelated with how one treats their body as well as the world around them.

michelle saviet

In October, 2010 Michelle moved to California in order to immerse herself in the practice of yoga. She moved to the Mount Madonna Center, in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and engulfed herself in the different limbs of yoga. She discovered the philosophy behind the art, undertook studies in pranayama, and developed a regular spiritual practice. In July 2011, she graduated from Yoga Teacher Training and is a certified instructor in classical Ashtanga Yoga. Michelle recognizes yoga is different for everyone and that we identify or are drawn more to some elements of the practice than to others. Her aim is to create an open and supportive environment where she can share what she has learned and allow her students to take what they want without feeling pressure. Michelle wants to share her knowledge and personal insight with others, inviting conversation and community.
